FBI raids on Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children should exclude the term “Child Prostitute” in the Media and be replaced with term Prostituted Children

Los Angeles, California, July 29, 2013 – Today the Federal Bureau of Investigations announced more than 100 children have been rescued from human traffickers during Operation Cross Country.  In the national sweep, which included the state of California, human traffickers who sold minors for sexual exploitation and sexual slavery, were arrested along with guns and drugs.

Alexandra Datig, who is part of the County of Los Angeles Task Force for Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children and a human trafficking survivor herself, is working on treatment programs, advising on federal strategy to combat human trafficking.  Datig recommends the following urgently needed changes in the news media in how the public perceives the commercial sexual exploitation of children.  “I applaud the FBI for their monumental efforts in combating the child sexual exploitation.  After today’s FBI press briefing the children who were rescued from human traffickers were referred to as ‘child prostitutes’ in the local and national media.  Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a child prostitute.  The children rescued in today’s raid were prostituted children with the rights of children.  They are children and should not be labeled prostitutes as he or she is not at the age of consent and therefore could never be called a prostitute.  It is also a major cause of re-traumatization for a child to hear he or she has been labeled a child prostitute by local and national media and we must do everything we can to change this unintentional consequence.”

Recommending the change of this language to all media and public outreach offices is part of the federal strategy recommendations to combat human trafficking and is recommended by all groups engaged in educating the public on the commercial sexual exploitation of children.

Drug Free America Foundation Commends Grazie Media
For Pulling Deceptive Marijuana Ads at Indianapolis Motor Speedway

(St. PetersburgFL) A Newly released ad claiming “marijuana is safer than alcohol” is being pulled from in front of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where the NASCAR Brickyard 400 is currently underway.

This ad was misleading and promoted an illegal activity in the state of Indiana. Grazie Media, the company that owns the jumbotron in front of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, made the decision to pull this deceptive advertising campaign.

"Grazie Media does not, in any way, shape or form, support the use of marijuana nor the promotion of illegal drugs at a family event," said Vanessa Wojtala, CEO, Director of Programming at Grazie Media.

“This campaign falsely claims marijuana is safer than alcohol and promotes illicit drug use in a state where marijuana is illegal,” said Calvina Fay, executive director of Drug Free America Foundation and Save Our Society From Drugs. “It is irresponsible marketing and I commend Grazie Media for their swift action towards the removal of this ad,” concluded Fay.

If you would like to set up an interview about this issue with Calvina Fay, or other drug policy experts, please contact Lana Beck at (727) 828-0211 or (727) 403-7571.

Recommended Movie: "Girl Model" a Film every Parent, Agent, Aspiring Model and Anti-Human Trafficking Advocate should see

Girl Model is a 2011 documentary film following Ashley, a conflicted model scout recruiting young Siberian girls to model in Japan, and Nadya, a recruited 13-year-old who gets financially taken advantage of during her modeling work in Japan. - This movie is about a lot more than the brief film summary.  It tells a story of how incredibly unprepared young girls are to become models. Of how their youth is taken away without them knowing, and how they learn to disassociate themselves from who they really want to be, much like victims of human trafficking.  The movie also covers how models cross the line into being prostituted because, according to modeling scout Ashley, "it is part of the business of modeling."

Is Heroin Use on the Rise in America?

Miley Cyrus follows Madonna's "Lead" by Promoting the Dangerous Club Drug Ecstasy in the Mega Hit "We Can't Stop" AND goes One Step Beyond by Admitting She Lied to Her Fans!

Miley Cyrus just admitted to lying about the message in her song "We Can't Stop" admitting the song refers to the underground club drug ecstasy.  I guess we can thank Madonna for this as it was her who unveiled the nickname for ecstasy when she asked at a concert last year if anyone had seen "Molly."

According to Zach, Zang and The Gangthe mega hit "caught a lot of flack for its overt drug references -- including a line that sounds like 'dancing with molly' (aka MDMA)."

Producers tried to sugarcoat it by saying listeners misunderstood the lyrics and that the words actually said "dancing with Miley."  Turns out Miley realized no one is buying it.

Miley told the Daily Mail, "If you're aged ten [the lyric is] Miley. If you know what I'm talking about then you know. I just wanted it to be played on the radio and they've already had to edit it so much. I don't think people have a hard time understanding that I've grown up. You can Google me and you know what I'm up to -- you know what the lyric is saying."

Promoting a dangerous drug like ecstasy and acting like an out-of-control, rebellious child by lying about it to her own fans, is hardly something responsible grown ups would do.  One has to wonder how many kids have now taken this dangerous drug because Madonna made it known and Miley though it was a good idea to follow Madonna's lead and make it "popular."

Cory Monteith's Death NOT an Accident. It is Murder by a Drug Dealer!

By Alexandra D. Datig -

How many more times does a celebrity or anyone else have who has been to rehab have to die from relapse, until we realize that each time they die, we are letting a drug dealer get away with murder!?  Just like Michael Jackson, Monteith was a known addict.  Just like Corey Haim, he began smoking weed daily when he was just 13 years old.  Just like John Belushi, he died from a lethal combination of drugs, and just like Whitney Houston Cory’s death is being called “an accident.” That's what the drug dealer said too! Oops!  He died.  Oh well.  Move it along folks, nothing to see here!

For several years now, I have been making light of the fact that known addicts who go into treatment are extremely vulnerable for the first two years of his or her recovery.  We need laws to protect people in recovery and hold accountable those who think they can make a fast buck off of a struggling sick person.
Therefore, once again, I propose we look at the following solution which I introduced in this press release in 2011:

Proposed Federal Law:
Addiction Rehabilitation and Protection Act of 2011
Revision 1

Prevents often fatal relapse and punishes drug dealers
and those aiding drug dealers
from selling drugs to men and women in treatment

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – Alexandra Datig is calling for nationwide support of a Federal law which would protect men and women struggling form addiction who are either in treatment or have completed treatment for recovery from addiction. The proposed law would protect men and women in recovery from drug dealers and those who aid drug dealers.
Datig, a business and public affairs consultant is also the founder of the addiction recovery website and blog www.fiveyearsfromnow.net.  She is recovering from a 13-year, life threatening drug addiction and has a successful recovery of more than 12 years(Now more than 14-years).
Datig says: “It is often said in recovery that ‘help is for those who want it, not for those who need it.’ With The Addiction Rehabilitation and Protection Act of 2011 we are lessening the burden on concerned families and friends, making it easier for people who are trying to beat addiction to ask for the help they want.”
Proposed Federal Law:
Author: Alexandra D. Datig, August 11, 2011

Proposed Title and Text: Addiction Rehabilitation and Protection Act of 2011
The Legislature finds and declares:
a.) The Addiction Rehabilitation and Protection Act of 2011, criminally punishes drug dealers and those who aid drug dealers, from selling addictive and illegal substances to men and women who are in treatment or re-enter society from drug rehabilitation management facilities. Women and men trying to find recovery are most vulnerable and susceptible to relapse in his or her first two years of sobriety and do not have the ability to withstand his or her social triggers of addiction, causing serious harm and fatal relapse. The human toll has been well documented, showing during and after addiction rehabilitation, addicts are dying at a far more rapid rate from relapse, when compared to first-time use, because drug dealers and those aiding drug dealers have not been put on notice.
(Five Year From Now 2011,)
b.) The legislature shall enact The Addiction Rehabilitation and Protection Act of 2011 as a Federal law, mandating criminal action and fines against any individual who knowingly sells or furnishes or aids in furnishing addictive substances, of any kind, to a man or a woman who is either in treatment or has documented proof of having completed a rehabilitation program to treat and overcome substance abuse. The Addiction Rehabilitation and Protection Act of 2011 shall also serve as a Three Strikes model for drug dealers and those who aide drug dealers, who re-offend selling addictive substances to any man or woman in recovery and shall follow the model of ADA, Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 and protect men and women recovering from addiction in his or her first two years of recovery. The Addiction Rehabilitation and Protection Act of 2011 mandates court ordered drug rehabilitation and education programs for drug dealers and those who aid drug dealers with selling drugs to men and women recovering from addiction; and imposes a minimum five-year prison term, for the first offense and a ten-year term for the second offense, as well as appropriate and reasonable fines.

California Attorney General Kamala Harris: State of Human Trafficking in California, Something We All Should Take a Look At

Human trafficking is the world's fastest growing criminal enterprise and is an estimated $32 billion-a-year global industry. After drug trafficking, human trafficking is the world's second most profitable criminal enterprise, a status it shares with illegal arms trafficking. Like drug and arms trafficking, the United States is one of the top destination countries for trafficking in persons. California – a populous border state with a significant immigrant population and the world's ninth largest economy – is one of the nation's top four destination states for trafficking human beings.
Transnational and domestic gangs have recently expanded from trafficking guns and drugs to trafficking human beings. Transnational gangs use cross-border tunnels to move not only guns and drugs, but also human beings, from Mexico into California. Domestic street gangs set aside traditional rivalries to set up commercial sex rings and maximize profits from the sale of young women. The perpetrators of human trafficking have become more sophisticated and organized, requiring an equally sophisticated response from law en¬forcement and its partners to disrupt and dismantle their networks.
The Internet and new technologies have also transformed the landscape of human trafficking. Traffickers use social media and other online tools to recruit victims and, in the case of sex trafficking, find and communicate with customers. While technology is being used to perpetrate human trafficking, that same technology can provide a digital trail – a valuable investigative tool for law enforcement to monitor, collect, and analyze online data and activities. Further, there are currently efforts underway to study and develop innovative technologies to prevent and disrupt human trafficking online. The Internet, social media, and mobile devices also provide new avenues for outreach to victims and raising public awareness about this atrocious crime.
This website is a hub of information and resources designed to highlight the important work being done across the state to raise awareness, serve victims, bring perpetrators to justice, and create a future without human trafficking.

Nickolai Lamm New Version of Barbie has Too Much Junk in the Trunk

By Nickolai Lamm
By Nickolai Lamm

I remember being 18 years old and weighing 170 pounds.  That was way to much weight in those days and I was 5' 91/2" -  I knew I had to lose at least 20 pounds to feel good about myself. In Nickolai Lamm's new version of Barbie, he took the measurements of a 19-year old who is 5'4" and weighs 166 pounds and has a 37.5 inch waistline.  Mattel's Barbie measurements and figure may not be realistic, but I know that it is hard for most girls who are considered on the "curvy side" to have a 37.5 inch waist.  Also, if every girl were to model herself after this new version of Barbie, the new prototype has way too much junk in the trunk.  Just like the current version of Barbie, the average girl would likely develop a complex trying to identify with it.  Nice try though.  Barbie does need  some re-thinking.

“Hemp Flag Flying Over State Capitol is a Disgrace”
Says Drug Free America Foundation

(St. Petersburg, FL) Marijuana legalization activist, Representative Jared Polis, used his pull to ensure that the flag flying over the US Capital Building on July 4th will be made of hemp.

“This is a completely and utterly disgraceful way to commemorate the birth of our country,” says Calvina Fay, Executive Director of Drug Free America Foundation, Inc. and Save Our Society From Drugs. “There are millions of families in America that battle the scourge of addiction every day and many of them have lost loved ones to drugs,” continued Fay.

“This insensitive gesture makes a mockery of our nation’s prevention, treatment and law enforcement efforts. July 4th is a day that should be spent celebrating the privilege of living in America, not promoting or normalizing drug use to our citizenry,” concluded Fay.

If you would like to set up an interview about this issue with Calvina Fay, or other drug policy experts, please contact Lana Beck at (727) 828-0211 or (727) 403-7571.
